Diabetic Foot Care: Common Questions
How often should someone with diabetes get professional foot care?
Many people with diabetes benefit from routine nail and callus care every 4 to 8 weeks, along with a daily self-check at home. Your physician or podiatrist can advise what is right for you, and we are happy to coordinate with them.
Can you treat a diabetic foot ulcer at home?
Our Registered Nurse can assess wounds, change dressings, and monitor healing at home in coordination with your doctor. New or worsening ulcers, or signs of infection, should always be reported to your physician or podiatrist right away.
Do I need a referral for diabetic foot care?
No referral is required. We welcome referrals from physicians, podiatrists, and home health agencies, and we share notes with your care team when you would like us to.
